BlueYard Leaderboard
Welcome to the heart of competition and progression at BlueYard, our Leaderboard. This dynamic system is designed to foster continuous learning, encourage skill enhancement, and recognize the achievements of our users. Engage with the Leaderboard and see how it brings a competitive edge to your cybersecurity training.
Scoring Mechanics
Scoring on the BlueYard Labs Leaderboard is crafted to recognize effort and skill across various lab challenges. Here's how it functions:
Active Lab Points Allocation
Easy Labs: Completing an easy lab earns you 25 points, acknowledging the foundational skills you’ve applied.
Medium Labs: Tackle a medium lab and receive 50 points as a nod to the increased complexity.
Hard Labs: Conquer a hard lab to gain a substantial 100 points, rewarding your advanced problem-solving abilities.
Points are distributed based on the lab's inherent difficulty, and the number of correctly answered questions.
Impact of Lab Retirement on Scoring
When a lab transitions to retired status, two immediate changes affect the scoring:
Point Value Reset: The retired lab's point value is reset to zero, reflecting its shift from an active, competitive environment to a learning-focused resource.
Score Adjustment: Participants who have previously completed the lab while active will see a deduction in their overall score, corresponding to the points initially earned from that lab. This ensures the leaderboard remains a current reflection of active engagement.
Important Note on Leaderboard Visibility and Rankings
A user will only appear on the leaderboard if they have earned points from at least one currently active lab.
If no points have been earned from active labs — or if all previously completed labs have since been retired — the user's score will be reset to zero, and they will not be listed on the leaderboard.
In such cases, the world and country ranks will also display a dash (—) to indicate that there is no active score to rank.
To appear on the leaderboard and view updated ranks, users must earn points from at least one active lab.
Ranking Order and Tie-breakers
If two or more users have the same score, the user who reached that score first will be ranked higher. This means the leaderboard gives priority to whoever achieved the score earlier.
Time-based Leaderboards
The leaderboard is a live snapshot of user achievements, dynamically updating as users earn points from lab completions. Additionally, we maintain time-based leaderboards.
Weekly Leaderboard: This scoreboard resets every week and tracks the points users accumulate from active labs during that week. It's a fast-paced, dynamic leaderboard that showcases the most active and successful users in the short term.
Monthly Leaderboard: The monthly scoreboard offers a broader view, tracking the cumulative points users earn from active labs over the entire month. This scoreboard is ideal for recognizing consistent effort and skill over a longer period.
