How to Claim CPE Credits for Your CCD Certification

If you’ve earned the Certified Cyber Defender (CCD) certification, you can use it to claim CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credits for maintaining other industry certifications from vendors like GIAC, ISC², EC-Council, CompTIA and more.

This guide walks you through the process, and ensures you submit your CPE credits correctly across different platforms.

GIAC

1. Visit giac.org/account and log in.

2. Go to "Manage All Renewal CPEs" and select "Submit New CPEs."

3. Fill in the following details:

  • Category: Select "Other Related Training."

  • Subcategory (if applicable): Select "Other."

  • Details: Enter the course/training title, start and end dates, and brief description if needed.

  • Number of CPEs: 18

4. Attach your CCD certificate or relevant proof of completion.

5. Review and submit the CPE entry for GIAC’s review (approval can take up to 10 days).


ISC²

For guidance on submitting your Certified CyberDefender (CCD) certification for CPE credits with ISC², please refer to this detailed video: ISC² CPE Submission Guide.

When filling out the CPE submission form as shown in the video, feel free to use the following information:

  1. Select "Education" under Category.

  2. Choose "Courses and Seminars - Other" under Chosen Category.

  3. Enter "Certified CyberDefender" as the Title.

  4. Input "CyberDefenders" as the Training Provider.

  5. Allocate "40 CPE credits."

  6. You can copy the following summary into the description field:

    "Certified CyberDefender (CCD) certification is a vendor-neutral, hands-on blue team cybersecurity training and certification program. It prepares the next generation of SOC analysts, security blue teams, threat hunters, and DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) professionals. The exam is 100% practical. It will evaluate your technical skills across the following domains: threat hunting, perimeter defense, disk forensics, memory forensics, and network forensics. You will use Elastic SIEM to hunt threats and investigate a real-world intrusion, create an incident timeline, and analyze attack artifacts using digital forensics tools."

  7. Attach your CCD certificate as an attachment.


EC-Council

1. Login to your Aspen account at aspen.eccouncil.org.

2. Click on "My Courses" tab and then Click on "ECE Status."

3. Click on "Manage My Events."

4. Click on "Add New Event."

5. Here you will find option "Add Event."

6. Fill the form with the following details:

  • Event Name: Write down "CyberDefenders - Certified CyberDefender."

  • Event Description: Provide a brief description of the CCD training (You can reference the summary provided in step 6 of the ISC² section above).

  • Event Location: Remote

  • Event Date: Enter the date of passing the exam (taken from the certificate).

  • Event Type: Choose "Certification Examination Related to IT Security."

  • Upload File: Upload the PDF file with your CCD certificate.


CompTIA

1. Log in to your CompTIA account at login.comptia.org.

2. Click the "Manage Certifications" header.

3. Click the "Go to My Certifications" button to access your certification account.

4. Select the "Continuing Education" menu item.

5. Click "Add CEUs" in the menu bar.

6. Select the intent level by clicking the drop-down arrow (only if renewing multiple certifications).

7. Click on "Activity Group" to select an activity type.

8. Click "Accept Activity" to proceed.

9. If prompted, enter "CyberDefenders" as the Training Provider.

10. Enter the highest number of CEUs possible for the activity.

11. Click the "Documentation Language" drop-down arrow and select "English."

12. Click "Browse" to upload the your CCD certificate.

13. Click "Submit" to finalize your submission.

After submission, a confirmation message will appear indicating that your CEUs have been successfully submitted and automatically accepted.

Other Vendors

  • What if the CCD is not listed? If your certification provider doesn’t explicitly list CCD, choose “Other InfoSec-Related Training” or “Other” in the relevant category fields.

  • If the form requires a proof of completion, always upload your CCD certification as verification of your training.
