How to Claim CPE Credits for Your CyberDefenders Certification
If you’ve earned your CyberDefenders certification, you can use it to claim CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credits for maintaining other industry certifications from vendors such as GIAC, ISC², EC-Council, and others.
This guide walks you through the process and ensures you submit your CPE credits correctly across different platforms.
GIAC
1. Visit giac.org/account and log in.
2. Go to "Manage All Renewal CPEs" and select "Submit New CPEs."
3. Fill in the following details:
Category: Select "Other Related Training."
Subcategory (if applicable): Select "Other."
Details: Enter the course/training title, start and end dates, and a brief description if needed.
Number of CPEs: Use the appropriate number based on the certification submitted.
CCDL1 = 18 CPEs
CCDL2 = 18 CPEs
4. Attach your CyberDefenders certificate or relevant proof of completion.
5. Review and submit the CPE entry for GIAC’s review (approval can take up to 10 days).
ISC²

When filling out the CPE submission form as shown in the video, feel free to use the following information:
Category: Education.
Chosen Category: Courses and Seminars – Other.
Title: Certified CyberDefender Level 1 (CCDL1) or Certified CyberDefender Level 2 (CCDL2).
Training Provider: CyberDefenders.
CPE Credits: Allocate the appropriate number of credits based on the certification earned.
CCDL1 = 40 CPEs
CCDL2 = 40 CPEs
6. Attach your CyberDefenders certificate as an attachment.
For the description field, refer to the Course Descriptions section below.
EC-Council
1. Log in to your Aspen account at aspen.eccouncil.org.
2. Click on the "My Courses" tab and then click on "ECE Status."
3. Click on "Manage My Events."
4. Click on "Add New Event."
5. Here you will find the option "Add Event."
6. Fill the form with the following details:
Event Name: Write down "CyberDefenders – Certified CyberDefender Level 1 (CCDL1)" or "CyberDefenders – Certified CyberDefender Level 2 (CCDL2)."
Event Description: Provide a brief description of the CCDL1 or CCDL2 training (you can reference the summary provided in step 5 of the ISC² section above).
Event Location: Remote
Event Date: Enter the date of passing the exam (taken from the certificate).
Event Type: Choose "Certification Examination Related to IT Security."
ECE Credits:
CCDL1 = 40 ECEs
CCDL2 = 40 ECEs
Upload File: Upload the PDF file with your CyberDefenders certificate.
CompTIA
CyberDefenders is not currently listed as a pre-approved training provider in CompTIA's portal. However, your CCDL certificate can still be submitted for CEUs under the "Completed a Training Course" activity type. This has been officially confirmed by CompTIA support.
Before submitting, we recommend using CompTIA's official CEU Assessment Tool to confirm your activity qualifies for your specific certification renewal.
Log in to your CompTIA Central account at login.comptia.org
Go to "Certifications" → "Continuing Education" → "Add CEUs."
Select "Completed a Training Course" as the activity type.
Fill in the following details:
Training Provider: CyberDefenders
Course Name: Certified CyberDefender Level 1 (CCDL1) or Certified CyberDefender Level 2 (CCDL2)
Number of Hours:
CCDL1 = 60 hours (60 CEUs)
CCDL2 = 75 hours (75 CEUs)
Date Completed: as shown on your certificate
Upload the following documents:
Your CyberDefenders certificate contains the following:
Your name
Name of the training provider
Title of the training course
Date the training was completed

Please note that CompTIA may randomly audit your submission. Acceptance is not guaranteed in advance. If your submission is audited, CompTIA will notify you by email with further instructions.

You can use the following descriptions when submitting your CCDL certificate to any certification body:
CCDL1: "Certified CyberDefender Level 1 (CCDL1) is an entry-level blue team certification focused on building practical SOC analyst skills through real-world investigations. The program covers Endpoint & Network Analysis, SIEM Analysis & Log Navigation, Phishing & Email Analysis, and Cloud Security."
CCDL2: "Certified CyberDefender Level 2 (CCDL2) is a vendor-neutral, hands-on blue team certification designed for SOC analysts, threat hunters, and DFIR professionals. The program covers SecOps Fundamentals, Incident Response, Email Security, Evidence Collection, Disk Forensics, Memory Forensics, Threat Hunting, and Malware Analysis."
