How to Report a Bug

Quick guide to record your screen with JAM and report bugs to our support team.

Recording a bug with JAM is simple and helps our team understand and fix issues faster. Follow these easy steps:​

Step 1: Click the JAM Link

Click on the recording link or any JAM recording link provided by our support team. This will open JAM in a new browser tab.

Step 2: Choose Your Recording Settings

You'll see the "Get ready to record" screen with two options:

  • Screen + voice: Records your screen with audio commentary (recommended if you want to explain the issue)

  • Screen only: Records just your screen without audio


Select your preferred option, then click "Start Recording".

Step 3: Select What to Share

Your browser will ask what you want to share with JAM:

  • Chrome Tab: Share only a specific browser tab

  • Window: Share a specific application window

  • Entire Screen: Share your complete screen (recommended)

Choose the appropriate option for demonstrating your bug, then click "Share".

Step 4: Record Your Bug

Once recording starts, you'll see a notification at the top of your screen showing "Sharing this tab to recorder.jam.dev" or similar.

Now demonstrate the bug:

  1. Navigate to where the issue occurs

  2. Show the steps that cause the problem

  3. Capture the bug in action

Step 5: Stop Recording

When you're finished demonstrating the bug, stop the recording by either:

  • Clicking "Stop sharing" in the browser notification bar at the top

  • OR returning to the JAM tab and clicking "Stop recording"


Step 6: Submit Your Recording

After stopping, you'll see the JAM submission screen with:

  • A preview of your recording

  • "Submit recording" button

  • "Try again" option if you want to re-record


If you're happy with your recording, click "Submit recording".

Step 7: Wait for Upload

JAM will process and upload your recording. You'll see a "Thank you!" message when it's complete, along with "We saved your recording. You can close this tab now."


Step 8: Confirm in Support Chat

Once you see the "Thank you!" confirmation, return to your support conversation and type "Done" to let us know your recording has been submitted successfully.


Tips for Better Bug Reports:

  • Go slowly: Take your time demonstrating each step

  • Show the full process: Start from before the bug occurs and show the complete flow

  • Include context: Show relevant browser tabs, error messages, or settings

Having Trouble?

If you encounter any issues with JAM:

  • Make sure you're using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari

  • Allow screen recording permissions when prompted

  • Try refreshing the page and starting over

  • Contact our support team if problems persist
